UMW is a group of women devoted to missions in ACTION. United Methodist Women is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members supporting 300 world wide missions. This group will celebrate 150 years in 2019. It started with 8 missionary wives who had returned from India where the women would not see a male doctor. These women raised enough money to send the first female missionary woman, a doctor, to India and the organization has grown to over 300 mission projects world-wide (not including the projects we support in local units like Days for Girls, DeKalb Domestic Violence Task Force, and Beds for Kids her in DeKalb County.
United Methodist Women and The United Methodist Church's principles and values include:
- Promoting the empowerment of women, children and youth.
- Promoting anti-racism and multiculturalism.
- Promoting inclusion and equity.
- Promoting fair labor practices.
- Promoting economic and environmental stewardship and sustainability.
The Vision of United Methodist Women is turning faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world.

Knowing God by seeing other women living in Christ....and fellowship with other Christian women. UMW was a way that I personally got to know other women in our church when I moved here...and serve Christ at the same time. Arlene Samuelson
